WORK to renovate the Rake Hall pub in Ellesmere Port is now in its final stages – with the highly anticipated opening slated for December.

The redevelopment of the premises experienced delays due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

But owners Brunning and Price – who run The Architect and The Old Harkers Arms in Chester, as well as The Red Fox in Thornton Hough – have confirmed that the new venue will finally open in December.

The Rake, based in Little Stanney, closed permanently in January 2020.

The Grade II listed building, which was once a Hungry Horse pub – one of the Greene King brands, was quickly taken over by Brunning and Price.

In a social media post, the pub-restaurant group said: “As Rake Hall in Little Stanney, near Cheshire Oaks Shopping Village, reaches the final stages of construction (ready to open in December), our goal now is to build a great team.

“If you know of anyone in the area who might be interested, we would love to hear from them.”

A video post posted on Rake Hall’s Facebook page by the new manager calls for people to get in touch if they are interested in working on the site.

He says, “As you can see our renovations are underway in our beautiful building. Now we just need people to join our team.
