It’s been three months and a day since East West Partners inaugurated Electric Pass Lodge, the latest addition to the Base Village landscape; three months and three days since the last guests left the Westin and Wildwood hotels in the Snowmass Mall, where buildings are being renovated; just weeks into three months since East West officially started work on 10 single family homes dubbed Havens in Fanny Hill.

Overall, all of this work is going off without a hitch, according to people involved in the projects.

At the Wildwood Snowmass and the yet to be renamed Westin, renovations are in full swing and are on track for a reopening in December, according to general manager Jeffery Burrell.

“I’ve gone through quite a bit of renovations in my career and I’m shocked at how well (this project) is going,” Burrell said on a phone call last week.

The reopening of the two hotels and the Snowmass Conference Center – which will all operate under a new owner this winter – was initially scheduled to align with the start of the 2021-22 ski season, which typically begins around the last week of November.

The 151-room Wildwood will keep its name, but the Westin will soon have a different alias, as the 254-room slopeside hotel will operate under a new moniker that has yet to be announced as part of the Marriott Autograph Collection. .

“We have a name but it’s not widely publicized,” Burrell said.

He also hasn’t been able to share much information on what exactly the renovation will look like, but said he expects to be able to make more information available to the public in August.

The construction phase for the renovations to Lots 9 and the lower half of Lot 10 on Carriage Way did not have much of an impact on the parking lot, said David Peckler, Director of Transportation for Snowmass Village.

“Considering there is no one at the Westin and Wildwood hotels (this summer), we didn’t necessarily see a significant impact,” he said.

Additionally, the construction team opened lots 9 and 10 during some Thursday night concerts to add spaces to the mix on the busiest night of the week in town, but this setup could change if the need arises. felt more material storage or overnight. work, Peckler said.

Just down the hill, project manager Ellen McCready said Electric Pass Lodge and the Fanny Hill Havens were also making progress on schedule.

“Everything is going well with the construction,” said McCready. “We are on the right track with both projects.

The emphasis remains on public services and construction work; Base Village’s fully electric condos and Fanny Hill luxury single-family homes are just starting to become visible above ground.

These projects will take a little longer to open doors to residents; Electric Pass Lodge is scheduled to end in spring 2023 and Havens will end in two phases – one during the 2022-2023 season and a second in spring 2023. About 30% of condo inventory remains on the market, McCready mentioned; Fanny Hill homes sold within 45 days of being put on the market in January.

Construction traffic and periodic one-way lane closures on Wood Road near construction sites haven’t made much of a difference to public transport, according to Peckler of the city’s Transportation Department. Route 2, which serves homes on this route, is only on-demand in the summer and does not see a huge volume of requests for errands as it would significantly reduce travel time, he said. declared.

In terms of labor and lumber – the former is currently experiencing a shortage nationwide and the latter has sharply increased its costs over the past year – Burrell and McCready said no d ‘they hadn’t felt the sting.

According to McCready, the two Base Village projects are still in their infancy and it will be several months before the crews truly embark on the adventure; East West locked in the prices of most materials early on, so they weren’t subject to more recent price hikes.

As for the Westin and Wildwood project, this is a “full construction zone” in the Snowmass Mall, but “we had no labor issues and I am not aware of any supply problem, ”Burrell said.
