Saudi Arabia’s TRSDC awards contracts to Red Sea coastal village community

The Saudi Red Sea Development Company (TRSDC), the developer of the world’s most ambitious regenerative tourism project, has awarded a major engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services contract for its community project of coastal village.

Considered a vibrant community and set in a prime waterfront location, the 1.5 million m² coastal village area includes management offices, villas, townhouses and apartments, as well as a 144-room hotel.

TRSDC said the contract, one of the group’s largest deals to date, was won by Saudi Arabian group AlKifah Contracting after a competitive bidding process.

The new apartment buildings will include 40 single and double occupancy unit blocks, located in the destination’s coastal village, a new town that will eventually house the 14,000 employees who will operate the destination when it opens its doors. by the end of 2022..

As per the agreement, AlKifah will use precast concrete panels, prepared at a new dedicated precast manufacturing plant under construction in the project area. This will help locate jobs and significantly reduce the site’s carbon footprint by avoiding 10 million km of transport, which will save 10,000 tonnes of CO2.

Commenting on the new contracts, CEO John Pagano said, “People are at the heart of this project and the coastal village will become the focal point where employees can live, work and relax. Designed around the latest concepts of coworking and community living, it will become a vibrant neighborhood for residents, as well as family members and visitors. “

“The beauty of this deal is that the 40 residential buildings will use elements of off-site fabrication and prefabrication,” he explained.

“These approaches improve efficiency, quality and safety, while reducing the number of construction workers needed on site to minimize our environmental footprint during construction,” he added.

In addition to offsite manufacturing, TRSDC uses environmentally friendly and sustainable ‘green’ concrete onsite to minimize emissions throughout the construction process.

Regarding winning the contract, AlKifah Contracting Company President Osama AlAfaleq said: Conservation benefit over the natural environment. “

“With the destination ready to begin welcoming guests in less than two years, the efficient delivery of these units is essential to ensure that comfortable accommodations are available for the employees necessary to operate the destination. Our approach to using off-site manufacturing will ensure that we meet the tight deadlines that lie ahead, ”he added..-TradeArabia News Service
